Our Story

The story of @plantielilmama started in the spring of 2021 after a hard pregnancy and a battle with PPD, I got into the plant hobby as a distraction.  I created an Instagram account dedicated to documenting the plants I started to care for and how I was caring for them.  The hobby quickly turned into an obsession, and the obsession into a small business.  My first entrepreneurial move was selling starter plants that I have propagated and grown from my ever growing collection.  in doing so I discovered that not all growing substrates are created equal and so I started to experiment with different growing mediums,  I quickly fell in love with the name brand pon and researched how I can make my own when it was so hard to find in the online market.  I started mixing my own DIY soilless mixes in the fall of 2021.  I have been mixing my own mash-ups ever since and started to sell it locally last year.  I got some great feedback from my OG clients so I decided to keep developing it until I was happy with the mash of ingredients that I have now.  PONfetti is my original soilless mash-up baby, followed by SUCCohmash in 2023, and 2024 is the year of the ORCHIEmash, formerly known as ORCHIEpon.  All three are soil-free mixes/mash-ups made with inorganic materials that don't decompose overtime and can be reused in perpetuity with thorough disinfecting.
